Get to know the Therapist
Rebecca Tinubu
Hello and welcome. I’m Rebecca, a psychotherapist with over 20 years of experience.
Alongside my work in the NHS, I offer private therapy sessions specialising in Psychosexual Therapy (Sex Therapy), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and EMDR.
My approach is shaped by years of working within the NHS, where I’ve supported individuals with a wide range of emotional and relational concerns. In my private practice, I bring that same care and clinical grounding to a more flexible, personalised space. Based in East London, I offer sessions remotely via video or phone, as well as face-to-face. So, wherever you are in the UK, I’m here to support you.

Experience
I am an accredited member of the BABCP and BACP, and a registered member of COSRT. I follow the ethical guidelines set out by each of these professional bodies.
I have particular expertise in helping clients explore issues related to intimacy, communication, and emotional connection. Using a tailored, integrative approach that combines CBT, EMDR, and other evidence-based therapies, I support people working through challenges such as sexual difficulties, trauma, anxiety, depression, and relationship concerns.
Therapeutic Approach and Philosophy
As a qualified psychosexual (sex) therapist, I have extensive experience working with individuals and couples who wish to improve, develop, or repair their relationships. This includes same-sex relationships and clients from a wide range of cultural, religious, and ethnic backgrounds.
My work focuses on addressing intimacy and relationship concerns in a sensitive and respectful manner. I integrate CBT, EMDR, and other evidence-based approaches to tailor treatment to each client’s unique needs. Whether working through a sexual issue, trauma, anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulty, I believe everyone can achieve healing, growth, and lasting change when supported in the right environment.
A Sense of the Therapist’s Personality
I am an experienced, passionate, and honest practitioner. I strive to be both professional and approachable, and I strongly believe in practicing what I preach.
Having experienced therapy myself, I understand the value of the therapeutic relationship. I recognise how important it is to feel safe enough to express whatever is on your mind, without fear of judgment.
Boundaries and Confidentiality
Confidentiality is taken seriously and will be maintained unless there is a risk of harm to you or others. If a situation arises where confidentiality needs to be broken, I will always seek to discuss it with you first.
I use a secure platform (BACPAC) for clinical notes.

Modalities of therapy and specialisations I offer:
Psychosexual Therapy
I offer therapy for both individuals and couples. Sexual difficulties may be long-standing or triggered by recent events that have caused stress, confusion, or emotional distress.
Common concerns include:
Emotional and relationship difficulties
Sexual communication issues between couples
Male sexual issues (e.g. erection difficulties, rapid or delayed ejaculation, loss of desire)
Female sexual issues (e.g. pain on penetration – dyspareunia or vaginismus, difficulty achieving orgasm, low desire)
Couples experiencing a mutual loss of desire
Other challenges may involve difficulty discussing sexual issues within a relationship, mismatched sexual preferences, or changes following childbirth, menopause, illness, aging, or a history of sexual trauma.
Using a compassionate, non-judgemental approach, I help clients overcome barriers to emotional and sexual connection. The aim is to foster better communication, deeper intimacy, and more fulfilling relationships. My psychosexual therapy model draws on person-centred, psychodynamic, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), and mindfulness-based techniques—tailored to each client’s needs.
